HotSmart Gourmet Plates are the only plates in the world that really keep food warm and keep selling fast in Amazon.com; we decided to create this page to answer Frequent Asked Questions and feedback from our customers.
It is easy for me to forget as the inventor that what is easy and obvious to me it is not for my customers and that you deserve better information. Although most people learn how to use the plate in 5 minutes and the instructions for use are are so simple that they are in one single image on the Home Page
It seems there are still some unforeseen questions
The SPECS of the plate will show you that this is a quantum leap for the ceramic plate which had not evolved functionally in centuries, however we don't want you to have false expectations; use the plate properly according to the instructions, for the purpose it was designed for and you will enjoy it for a long time.
No, We are working on a dishwasher-safe version with an O ring all around the joint.

No, that would be defeating the purpose of the plate which is designed to get very hot in one single minute in a full size (1200W) microwave oven and remain still hot after 1/2 hour.
If your oven is a small:
800W oven preheat for 1:30 min.
600W oven preheat for 2:00 min
These are the type of things that seemed so obvious to me but needed to be explained.
HotSmart Plates do get real hot and stay still hot after 1/2 hour; handle with care by the rim
NO, HotSmarts are not deep plates, however they work perfectly for any food with gravy (I use them every day), any comment to the contrary is simply false; a waterless bowl is also in the process of development (Production samples).
You need to decide if you want a light weight plate or a plate that keeps food warm. A Winchester is better for fighting Apaches than a Colt 45 even if it is heavier; If you don't believe me just watch a John Wayne movie.
.
Yes, you need to handle the plate by the rim; that is also true for frying pans(You need to take them by the handle).
I have no intention of lining the bottom of the plate; most people have common sense and follow the instructions, they are so easy:
Just "Zap and Serve"
Safe bare hand handling by the rim
No,this is false, the whole surface gets very hot (Hotter at the center); if you like it even hotter you can preheat 1:15 minutes, I do that for steak. If this isn't happening, maybe you are using a small (600W) oven in that case you need to increase the preheating time accordingly (see above).
If you are heating up food on the plate you need to increase the preheating time accordingly to the amount of food and its temperature (Do it gradually to avoid overheating).
White is very hot (About 200F max., see below), red is hot and green is ambient temperature at the rim for safe easy handling with the bare hands
HotSmart Plates reach maximum temperature (About 200F) 5-8 minutes after taking them out of the microwave -to prevent overcooking or overheating- and release heat slowly at a controlled rate to keep food warm. A regular plate -if preheated- will get cold along with the food in about 5 minutes (Just when a HotSmart is at max. temperature)
The delay action prevents overheating or overcooking the food (Eggs over easy, pasta, etc.). Heat is delivered when needed and released slowly, at a controlled rate using "simple" patented technology that was originally rejected by the USA dinnerware industry and that is available for license for some market segments
For the same reason you cannot leave an iron on a silk shirt for as long as you want; this does not mean the iron or the shirt are defective, simply that every product on the market is designed for a purpose and should be used following the instructions.

We have many satisfied customers who love the plates; please post your feedback in Amazon.com; a simple:
"Good product, works as advertised" will do
Thanks!
